Design rules that keep milled and turned parts within ±0.02 mm without costly rework or special setups.
CNC machining delivers the tightest tolerances of any process we run — typically ±0.02 mm on metals. Reaching that reliably is as much about design as it is about the machine.
Design rules that protect tolerance
- Keep wall thickness above 0.8 mm on metals; thin walls chatter and drift.
- Avoid deep, narrow pockets — they flex the tool and widen tolerance bands.
- Standardise on common hole sizes and chamfers to cut setup changes.
- Place datums on features you can actually touch with a probe.
Materials and finish
Aluminium 6061 and stainless 304 are our workhorses for prototypes; anodizing or plating can follow machining for both protection and looks. Tell us the function and we'll pick the grade.
